URA Draft Master Plan: More Housing Planned For CBD, Marina Bay Area

Under the latest Draft Master Plan 2019, which contains plans to rejuvenate the central area, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) said it plans to increase housing in Rochor, Downtown, Marina South so that people can live close to their workplaces and amenities.
The URA said on March 27 that more homes are to be built at the Central Business District and Marina Bay area.
At present, there are over 50,000 homes in the central area, with the possibility of adding another 20,000 homes in the city centre. About 9,000 homes can be added to the Marina South precinct.
This is part of the plan to have a larger live-in residency in the CDB and Marina Bay which are now predominantly offices, in order to bring more life into the area after office hours.
According to Ms Hwang Yu-Ning, URA’s chief planner, the URA wants to bring in new housing options into the CBD so that it can become a vibrant and 24/7 precinct.
